Toss the Tusk Event at Point Defiance Zoo

October 26 @ 10:00 AM - 3:00 PM

Toss the Tusk Event at Point Defiance Zoo
Toss the Tuskis an event at the front gate of Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium and Northwest Trek Wildlife Park that supports the recently-passed Washington Animal Trafficking Act (I-1401). By that Act, selling products made from endangered animals is now illegal. While it’s not illegal to OWN these products, many people may have them tucked away at home – carved elephant ivory, turtle-shell ornaments, shark fins.  Now that they are illegal to sell, what can people do with them?
Bring them to Toss the Tusk! Wildlife items can be dropped off to Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife officials at a station just outside the entrance to both zoos – no questions asked.
The items will be either destroyed or used for educational purposes.
By taking them off the market, you can help reduce the demand for these products – and reduce poaching and killing of endangered species like elephants, rhinoceros, tigers, lions, sharks, sea turtles and rays.
Saturday, October 26
Time: 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.
Location: drop-off stations outside Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium and Northwest Trek Wildlife Park
